Database Administrator

Summary              
A leading provider of cutting-edge mobile ad serving technology is looking for a top notch Database Administrator. We are looking for an A+ player with a successful track record of solving complex technical issues in complex distributed environments. You will coordinate with developers, system administrators, and datacenters, so a customer service attitude and excellent communication skills are as important as technical skills. Prefer someone who has extensive troubleshooting technical experience and has worked with ad serving platforms.

Applicant Requirements
* 5+ years of Database Administration experience using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle
* Must be available to respond to database issues outside of normal business hours.
* Experience with high availability solutions including database replication, load balancing, failover, and recovery.
* Performance tuning database servers, OS tuning/optimization, and query optimization.
* Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
* Experience with basic backup and recovery principals
* Experience developing, testing and implementing a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) for database systems.
* Experience with scalability planning, including database design and architecture, application design implications, hardware design, database security, and capacity planning.
* Solid understanding of Linux administration, including system tuning. (Preferably Debian)
* Solid understanding of OLTP and OLAP database design and function
* Experience proactively maintaining and monitoring a high availability, high transaction rate environment, to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
* Must be highly motivated, able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
* Ideal candidate is familiar with NoSQL database systems, and data storage concepts and determining when to store data in a NoSQL database versus RDBMS.

Roles and Responsibilities
* Work with developers on optimizing queries, and database design.
* Designing database schema for high volume databases
* Designing and managing database schemas
* Use their familiarity with High Availability to assure maximum uptime and minimal downtime
* Scale the current infrastructure to handle greater levels of reliability and accessibility using data storage methods such as sharding, partitioning and data modeling.
* Investigating and implementing future use of NoSQL
* Troubleshoot database and server performance or functional issues.
